RESOLUTION NO. 40
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION CONFERRING THE STATUS OF
“SON OF OLONGAPO CITY” ON SIR EDWARD A. ARTIS

WHEREAS, the Olongapo City Government operates James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital, an award-winning tertiary hospital;

WHEREAS, James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital caters to mostly poor from Olongapo, Zambales, Bataan and Pampanga;

WHEREAS, Sir Edward Artis of Knightsbridge International, is a United States national who has a soft spot for Filipinos particularly the people of Olongapo City;

WHEREAS, upon gaining professional accomplishments in his own right, he devoted his life to philanthropic works, among them the consistent award of generous donations to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital in the form of equipment, supplies, medicines and the like;

WHEREAS, his unwavering dedication and service are indications of his unselfish love and generosity to the City and James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital;

WHEREAS, Sir Edward Artis has won the love and admiration of the people of Olongapo through his humanitarian gestures of assistance;

NOW THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to confer, as it hereby honorably confers on SIR EDWARD A. ARTIS the status of “Son of Olongapo City” in gratitude for his invaluable help and unselfish love for this City.

Let a copy of this Resolution be furnished Sir Edward A. Artis for his information and record.
