RESOLUTION NO. 12
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR TO CAUSE THE SOUNDING OF SIREN DURING A SPECIFIED TIME TABLE FOR REMINDERS AND WARNING

WHEREAS, time is a precious commodity that is always seriously considered in connection with warnings of disasters and reminders of tasks to be accomplished;

WHEREAS, the City is in possession of an apparatus whereby warnings and reminders of tasks can be conveyed to the entire populace;

WHEREAS, the siren, generally is for the public, for them to value time and be reminded of the importance of punctuality while the curfew siren is for the protection of minors and children. The emergency siren shall serve as early warning for city residents to be prepared for natural and man-made disaster;

WHEREAS, a massive information campaign shall be undertaken before the full implementation of this resolution shall take place;

WHEREAS, the following schedule be followed in the cases indicated:

1. Reminders of the start of the work day –

7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Three 5-second siren blasts.

2. Reminders of curfew -

Sunday – Thursday

1st ring: 9:00 p.m.
2nd ring: 9:30 p.m.

Friday – Saturday
1st ring: 10:30 p.m.
2nd ring : 11:00 p.m.
Three 5-second siren blasts.

3. Warnings of disasters such as typhoons, floods, widespread of fires five-one-second blast repeated for fifteen minutes. Information on the nature of the disaster may be secured from the Office of the City Mayor.

NOW, THEREFORE, on joint motion of Councilors Marey Beth D. Marzan and Brian Patrick H. Gordon with the majority decision of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to authorize, as it hereby authorizes the City Mayor to cause the sounding of siren during a specified time table for reminders and warning;

RESOLVED FURTHER, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution be distributed among all radio stations in the City and office of Colorview CATV for dissemination to the public.
