RESOLUTION NO. 57
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION EXTENDING SYMPATHIES AND
CONDOLENCES TO THE BEREAVED FAMILY AND GIVING
RECOGNITION FOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE LATE
DR. ERNESTO LIRAZAN BATAPA

WHEREAS, Dr. Ernesto L. Batapa died in God’s grace on May 10, 2005, at the age of sixty-nine (69), after a lingering illness;

WHEREAS, Dr. Batapa will always be remembered as the dynamic president of the Senior Citizens’Association and an accomplished leader of the Peace Makers Senior Citizen’s organization of Barangay Banicain from 1997 up to the time of his death;

WHEREAS, his feat in the said organizations catapulted him to become the President of the Federation of Senior Citizen’s Associations of the Philippines (FSCAP), Olongapo City, Chapter where he served his two (2) terms from 1999 and was elected twice as its Regional Treasurer;

WHEREAS, during his incumbency, he put up a program for all members called “Abuluyan Mutual Aid Plan”, and implemented the Office of the Senior Citizens’ Affairs (OSCA) Chairmanship in every barangay. As president, he entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with one of the funeral service providers in the city to enable its members to avail themselves of cheaper funeral services;

WHEREAS, Dr. Ernesto L. Batapa was conferred as Region III National Awardee for the “Ulirang Nakatatanda” 2004, having been nominated to represent Region III;

WHEREAS, Dr. Batapa was an active member and Chairman of the Lupon Tagapamayapa of Barangay Banicain and member of the PNP Council for the Elders covering four (4) barangays and co-opted officer of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, James L. Gordon Council;

WHEREAS, Dr. Batapa earned the trust and confidence of the City Mayor and established a good working relationship with the Olongapo City Social Welfare and Development Office (OCSWD) as a partner in the implementation of the office’s programs and services for the elderly;

WHEREAS, Dr. Batapa was known for his integrity, honesty and objectivity, a loving husband and a good provider for his family;

NOW, THEREFORE, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to extend, as it hereby extends Sympathies And Condolences To The Bereaved Family And Giving Recognition For The Contributions Of The Late Dr. Ernesto Lirazan Batapa.

Let a copy of this resolution be furnished the bereaved family of Dr. Ernesto Lirazan Batapa for their information and record.
