RESOLUTION NO. 61
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MAYOR,
HON. JAMES J. GORDON, JR. TO ENTER INTO AND SIGN A MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT WITH THE AIDS SOCIETY OF THE PHILIPPINES, INC. REGARDING THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE 6TH COUNTRY PROGRAMME ACTION PLAN (CPAP) OF THE UNITED NATIONS FUND FOR FAMILY PLANNING ACTIVITY (UNFPA)


WHEREAS, the rising incidence of Human Immuno-Deficiency Virus (HIV/Acquired Immune-Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in the Asian region poses a significant threat to our population;

WHEREAS, prevention and control of the spread of HIV/AIDS is part of the comprehensive action plan of the UNFPA reproductive health programme;

WHEREAS, the AIDS Society of the Philippines, Inc. (ASP) is mandated to coordinate with the local government of Olongapo to provide technical & logistical assistance for the 3-year UNFPA project entitled, “Reducing the Vulnerabilities and Susceptibilities of HIV/AIDS Transmission among Men-Who-Have-Sex-With-Men (MSM) and Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) in the City of Olongapo: An Intervention Work”, which was granted on April 4, 2005;

WHEREAS, the City Government of Olongapo seriously supports measures to improve the health and general well-being of the people;

NOW THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Angelina B. Andrada, with the unanimous accord of the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to authorize, as it hereby authorizes The City Mayor, Hon. James J. Gordon, Jr. To Enter Into And Sign A Memorandum Of Agreement With The Aids Society Of The Philippines, Inc. Regarding The Implementation Of The 6th Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) Of The United Nations Fund For Family Planning Activity (UNFPA).

Let a copy of this resolution be furnished to the AIDS Society of the Philippines, Inc. for their information and record.
