RESOLUTION NO. 35
(Series of 2004)

A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING GRATITUDE TO DR. BENJAMIN TAYABAS, ASSOCIATION OF LOCAL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES (ALCU) PRESIDENT AND THE ALCU MEMBER INSTITUTIONS FOR THEIR GENEROSITY IN LENDING THE GORDON COLLEGE THEIR INSTRUCTIONAL RESOURCES, POLICIES AND GUIDELINES RELATIVE TO THE OPERATION OF THE COLLEGE


WHEREAS, recognizing the importance of education in the life of a nation and strongly believing that investment in education must be an integral part in the priority programs of every Local Government Unit, the Gordon College came into existence;

WHEREAS, in an effort to put Gordon College at the forefront of academic excellence, affiliation and membership to various academic organizations and entities are crucial and following the advice of the Education Supervisors at Region III of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Gordon College became an institutional member of the ALCU in February 2003;

WHEREAS, the established credibility of ALCU as a vehicle in leading the higher education institution of the Local Government Unit towards quality and excellence is confirmed by the CHED’s acknowledgement of the association as their partner in providing quality education through intellectual competence, personal and professional development of individuals;

WHEREAS, inspired by the vision of ALCU to become the fulcrum for attitudinal transformation, knowledge generation and skills development, Gordon College, like all member institutions, are now fully aware and committed to explore avenues to localize quality higher education;

WHEREAS, the sharing of expertise, research, training, scholarships and other instructional resources have fostered close relationship and camaraderie among member LCUs putting forth a special bond as well as a unified front against any shot that challenges the autonomous operations of local colleges and universities in promoting access and equality in tertiary education;

WHEREAS, the development of understanding and cooperation among colleges and universities heightens a mutually beneficial relationship in the interest of quality tertiary-level instruction and community service;

WHEREAS, through the generous exchange of information on educational and research programs of the schools and undertaking of cooperative action in the development of programs and facilities, Gordon College is assured to become an excellent center of higher learning in our community;

WHEREAS, since the membership of Gordon College with ALCU, the college has been ably guided by well anchored and established member institutions for higher learning and has evolved from a mere higher education institution to a viable alternative to private tertiary institutions and state colleges and universities offering community-directed, competency-based, relevant and market driven courses catering to the marginalized sector of the community;

WHEREAS, the laudable endeavors of ALCU towards forging linkages and consortial arrangements among its members paved the way for the professional development of faculty members that strengthens the means to maintain a culture of excellence;

WHEREAS, the City is overwhelmed that such commitment and support of ALCU Member Institutions were equaled by no less than the ALCU President, Dr. Benjamin Tayabas, who likewise expressed his committed support to develop not only the college but also its personnel through technical assistance and consortial agreements;

WHEREAS, for this, the City is doubly honored by the said gesture and hereby awaits of the tremendous positive impact of this consortium on the future success of the Gordon College students in various fields of learning;

WHEREAS, the selfless commitment of the officials and members of ALCU to support each other in ensuring total quality teaching and learning through accreditation coupled with the unequivocal support from the respective local executives will indubitably empower our people to become socially responsive and productive citizens requisite to nation building;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Marey Beth D. Marzan, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,


RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to express, as it hereby expresses gratitude to Dr. Benjamin Tayabas, Association of Local Colleges And Universities (ALCU) President And The ALCU Member Institutions For Their Generosity In Lending The Gordon College Their Instructional Resources, Policies And Guidelines Relative To The Operation Of The College.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished Dr. Benjamin Tayabas, Association of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) President and the ALCU Member Institutions for their information and record.
