RESOLUTION NO. 19
(Series of 2005)

A RESOLUTION STRONGLY INDORSING HOUSE BILL NO. 3385
ENTITLED, “AN ACT PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE ADMINISTRATIVE TOTAL DISABILITY PENSION TO SENIOR
VETERANS OF WARS AND MILITARY CAMPAIGNS”,
INTRODUCED BY HONORABLE ERNESTO S. GIDAYA

WHEREAS, Republic Act 7696 passed in 1994 provides that a veteran with or without a service connected disability, upon reaching the age of seventy is deemed totally disabled with a one hundred percent disability rating and shall be entitled to a monthly disability pension of One Thousand Seven Hundred Pesos plus Five Hundred Pesos each for the spouse and unmarried children;

WHEREAS, many veterans who already passed away have not availed of this benefit provided by the law;

WHEREAS, it is unbearable to see that after fighting for this country’s freedom, our veterans have yet to fight another struggle in the twilight of their years with the rising cost of medicines and other basic commodities;

WHERAS, House Bill No. 3385 seeks to start only the initial payment of the Administrative Total Disability Pension for all veterans who are at least seventy years old, to be sourced from the governments dormant accounts;

NOW, THEREFORE, on motion of Councilor Cynthia G. Cajudo, with the unanimous accord of the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to strongly indorse, as it hereby strongly indorses, House Bill No. 3385 Entitled, “An Act Providing For The Payment Of The Administrative Total Disability Pension To Senior Veterans Of Wars And Military Campaigns”, Introduced By Honorable Ernesto S. Gidaya.

RESOLVED FURTHER, AS IT HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, that copy of the aforesaid House Bill 3385 be made as an integral part of this Resolution.

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished Her Excellency Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Honorable Speaker Jose de Venecia and The Honorable Members of the House of Representatives, Honorable Senate President Franklin Drilon and The Honorable Members of the Senate.
