RESOLUTION NO. 59
(Series of 2004)

A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THE FORMULATION OF A CITY TOUR PACKAGE AS PROMOTIONAL TOOL AND AN INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITY OF THE OLONGAPO CITY TOURISM OFFICE.


WHEREAS, Olongapo City has been considered as a potential tourist destination for local and international travelers with its famous Subic Bay, tourist recreations, festivities and the famous annual Mardigras celebration;

WHEREAS, Olongapo City has been recognized globally with its various awards and recognition on cleanliness, beautification, and good local governance thus generating countless educational excursions coming from all areas in the country;

WHEREAS, with the 11,272 tourists, comprised of foreigners, local government personnel and students, who visited the city of Olongapo for the calendar year 2003, tourism can be ruled out as a clear source of business and employment;

WHEREAS, the creation of a Tour Package shall promote Olongapo City and its business industry subsequently create additional income and business opportunities to all sectors in the locality.

NOW, THEREFORE, on a motion of Councilor Gina Gulanes Perez, with the unanimous accord of the members of the Sanguniang Panlungsod present;

RESOLVED AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled, to approve, as it hereby approves a resolution recommending the Formulation of a City Tour Package as a Promotional Tool and an Income Generating Activity of the Olongapo City Tourism Office.

RESOLVED FURTHER, AS IT IS HEREBY FURTHER RESOLVED, that: (1) copies of this resolution be furnished to the Olongapo City Tourism Office, City Tourism Council and Mayor’s Office for their appropriate action; (2) the City Accountant’s Office through coordination with the Tourism Office and City Tourism Council shall set aside the said proceeds for beautification and other tourism endeavors of the city; and (3) proceeds thereof be subject to the usual accounting rules and procedures.
