RESOLUTION NO. 62
(Series of 2004)

A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING FULL SUPPORT TO THE NEW ADMINISTRATION OF THE SUBIC BAY METROPOLITAN AUTHORITY (SBMA)

WHEREAS, the third administration to manage the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority and the first time the Freeport will be jointly managed by leading business technocrats Francisco Licuanan III as the Chairman and Alfredo C. Antonio as Administrator;

WHEREAS, since SBMA is a government agency which has a crucial role in spurring economic progress in Zambales and in the whole Central Luzon, the expertise, qualifications and professionalism of non-politicians Messrs. Licuanan who is a former Ayala Land Executive and Antonio, a well-respected banker who headed the Development Bank of the Philippines, will pave way for this purpose;

WHEREAS, Retired General Jose Calimlim once headed the Presidential Security Group (PSG) and presidential antismuggling task force aside from being the Deputy Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. With his new assignments as President of the Freeport Services Corporation (FSC) and the Freeport’s Senior Deputy Administrator for Operation, General Calimlim’s leadership experience in his previous stints as well as the broad networks he fostered there complement the new leadership helm in galvanizing the programs of the freeport as it endeavors to establish effective enforcement mechanisms that will help curb the reported rampant smuggling at SBMA;

WHEREAS, the Olongapo City local government, together with its constituents, hail the appointments of the new Chairman, Administrator and FSC President and look forward to a good relationship, better teamwork and cooperation as well as expect for more tourism

projects, investments and employment generation for the benefit of both area and nearby communities, as SBMA plays a vital and essential role to the country’s growth;

NOW, THEREFORE, on unanimous accord of the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod present,

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the Members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in session assembled to express, as it hereby expresses full support to the new administration of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).

Let copies of this Resolution be furnished Mr. Francisco Licuanan III, Mr. Afredo C. Antonio and Retired General Jose Calimlim for their information and record.
